As most all race fans know, Jimmie Johnson won his third straight Sprint Cup Championship this last Sunday. This is a feat that has only been done once before and Jimmie is already gearing up to make a run at his fourth straight championship in the upcoming season.

Jimmie Johnson, Creating Excitement

Jim Laslavic from Channel 39 news was the very first of several local news stations that will be visiting us here at Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet. With the final race of the Nextel Cup Championship coming up this Sunday, the excitement for a third straight Championship for Jimmie Johnson is building right here in the San Diego community. Kathy Upchurch, Jimmie Johnson's biggest fan and our very own receptionist here at the dealership, was interviewed by Jim and his videographer. Kathy is the friendly voice you hear each time you call into Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet.

"Believe to Achieve" Kathy told Jim Laslavic about the slogan written on a sticker in the #48 race car to remind Jimmie Johnson that he can achieve a third straight championship this year. "It seems to be working!"

The interview took place next to last year's #48 Chevrolet car that won the Championship and is displayed right here in our showroom. The Championship Trophy is also on display in a special trophy case on the showroom floor. Any one is welcome to come by anytime to see the car or the trophy.

Jimmie Johnson closes in on Third straight Sprint Cup Championship.

Jimmie Johnson won another first place victory at the Sprint Cup Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 in Phoenix this last Sunday. This is his 40th victory out of 254 NASCAR Sprint Cup races which has put him ahead in the point standings (141 points) for the Sprint Cup Series Championship for 2008. If he holds on to this lead going into next weeks race at Homestead he will be crowned NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series Champion for the third straight year.

Kurt Busch who finished second in this race was amazed at the way Jimmie Johnson is racing. “He’s doing something special,” said Busch. “It’s just unbelievable to watch”

Johnson led 217 of 313 laps in a race that was delayed by a late caution flag. It was also a race that experienced some weather changes prior to the start that threw almost everyone off of their game. The weather turned cool, overcast and windy that changed the handling of all of the race cars.

Jimmie was asked about winning the championship next week in a television interview and his comment was. “I know we’ll have the speed to do it, but we just need things to go our way and not have anything crazy to happen.”

Things went Jimmie Johnson’s way in this last race when he pulled into the pit on Lap 264 to get four new tires and his team discovered that one tire had been going down. The fresh tires gave him the opportunity to go onto victory. They call this type of thing “Champion’s Luck”.

Jimmie Johnson, Wins Tums QuikPak 500 at Martinsville Speedway

Great News!!!

Jimmie Johnson won a dominating win at Sunday's Tums QuikPak 500 at the Martinsville Speedway. Our own No.48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driver and two-time defending Sprint Cup Series champion led 339 of 504 laps. He held off another Hendrick Motorsports teammate Dale Earnhardt, Jr. to take the win.
This victory was Jimmie Johnson's sixth of the season and the 39th of his Sprint Cup career. He extended his lead to 149 points in the championship standings with just four races to go in the season.

Second Family Selected for Foundation Lane

We are thrilled to announce that the second family has been selected for Foundation Lane, the four home complex that is being built by the Jimmie Johnson Foundation in partnership with San Diego Habitat for Humanity in Jimmie's hometown of El Cajon, CA.
San Diego Habitat for Humanity oversees the construction and family selection process for the homes. The goal is to complete construction on all four homes by Fall 2008. If you are interested in volunteering on the site, please contact Carolyn at carolynb@sdhfh.org.
